Comment: Communications with the company in advance of our arrival were very good. However, upon our arrival, there was no one there to greet us at the airport. This was partly my fault because I had emailed them the time that we would be coming to Arusha. I did not realize that there were two different airports near Arusha. One is called Arusha; the other is called Kilimanjaro. I think they should be aware that someone who has never been to Tanzania might not know the difference. We did eventually get in touch with our tour manager, Peniel, and he came from the other airport to get us.

I felt that he did a good job of briefing us on what would be happening and what to expect. Our driver, John, and our cook, Benson, both were great. They always took care of us, and we had good food and saw lots of animals. Their jobs' are really hard.

Upon our return to Arusha, they took us to the wrong hotel. It wasn't that big as deal, but we were hot and exhausted, and when we had unloaded our gear in the hotel lobby, only to find that we had to reload to go somewhere else, it frazzled us a little. A minor thing and all was taken care of quickly, but it would have been better if the communications between our driver and the office had been smoother.

All in all, though, I think that they did a great job, and I was happy to have booked with them. I would recommend them to any friends who might be going to Africa.

Comment: I booked a camping tour of Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro through the Africa Guide website for July 2011 for myself and son (age 14). The trip was at the end of several weeks of working in East Africa.

Peniel was incredibly helpful in designing an itinerary and schedule that worked for us, and in assisting us in obtaining local air transportation from Rwanda to our starting point in Arusha. Our driver, Anthony, was very friendly and knowledgeable about flora and fauna during our trip. In terms of animals, we were able to view the 'big 5' in addition to many, many others. We were pleasantly surprised that the package included our own camp guide and cook (Benson) who had delicious meals waiting for us upon arising and return to camp every evening.

We camped in a two man tent, and the addition of cots added significantly to the comfort.

Our guides were very attentive to our needs including, at our request, steering us to a more local craft area for curios and gifts rather than the more well-known, and over-priced, tourist traps in Arusha.

I have had a number of prior safari experiences ranging from tent camping (alone, with groups, and with my children) to high-end lodges (with spouse) in Uganda, South Africa, Kenya, and Tanzania. Unlike other tours with other companies, the operator did not combine us with other groups in the vehicle, allowing for a completely personalized vacation. This added to the flexibility of timing and accommodations.

Overall, this experience ranks an excellent value that allows one to "rough it" but with some unexpected added creature comforts (cots, personal cook). I plan to recommend the operator to my colleagues who are considering safaris in Tanzania.

Comment: They provided a thoroughly enjoyable safari.

Although I was nervous booking and transferring money overseas, to our pleasant surprise everything went according to plan, including the arrangement of pre and post safari accommodation at the Impala Hotel in Arusha.

We had a comfortable vehicle and our tent was great - a very good size and kept us dry through storms, night after night. Apollo was our guide/driver and was extremely knowledgeable and proficient. He had to do some very challenging four wheel driving owing to a lot of rain and got us through every time without a hitch (others were not so lucky!!).

We saw so much wildlife right up close and personnel, including the Big 5 - and he was so patient when we just wanted to spend ages watching nature at its best. Our cook Bereggi (sorry I have no idea how he spells it?) was excellent also, providing absolutely fabulous meals!! The two of them made a trip to remember!

Overall, it was an excellent 8 days which allowed us to see the best of what Tanzania can offer on safari.

Comment: What a fantastic deal! I had a chef and a driver and a big 4x4 just or me! The parks visited were teeming with wildlife, and the driver (Fredy) was attentive, and very competent. He was amazing and could spot game from phenomenal distances.

Camping on the Serengetti was one of the most amazing experinces of my life. The facilities in the camping grounds are Ok, the toilets do suffer from too many tourists, but the eating/cooking facilities are quite good. My chef Alex was wonderful, I was actully asked each meal what I would like to have, to the suprise of other travellers!

The entire tour was well put together, with a great variety of things to see and do. High points included the Ogilvai gorge, Tarangire National Park and of course the Serengetti. Because they are based in Arusha, the distances travelled to get to each of the parks was not to great, so little time was spent on the road. I saw at least 30 lions (including new born cubs) in the week, leopards, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, giraffe and everything in between (except rhino)!

Comment: The amount we saw and experienced in the six days of this camping tour was really amazing.

We went to National Parks with differing characteristic vegetation and types of animals with climate varying from the tropical to the sub-arctic.

Campsites also were of varying quality, mostly fine, with one exception in the Serengeti - the very popular Pimbi camp - which had over 70 people, two long-drop toilets and no water supply.

The nearby Tumbili camp to which we moved after one day was a vast improvement!

We thank the tour staff who taught us two rousing Tanzanian songs.

Comment: The safari was fantastic - probably the best holiday I have ever experienced. I didn't expect to be so close up with the wildlife - it was wonderful.

Our guide was very imformative and a great guy teaching my partner lots of swahili along the way! The food provided at the camps and lodges was also delicious.

Ten out of ten! My partner and I can't wait to go back to Africa next year.

Comment: We had an excellent guide and cook. Aniceth, the guide, had remarkable knowledge of the plants, animals, and local peoples and customs, and was very forthcoming on providing information to make our trip more interesting. Also, he gave us options on varying the safari itinerary as we went to improve our chances of seeing those aspects of interest to us.

Overall, an excellent safari, thanks to the guide and cook.

Comment: Our Safari was, no doubt, a fantastic experience. Having the opportunity to watch wildlife from close was something I personally longed for some time and I wasn't dissapointed at all.

Our Guide, Anicete, proved to be very knowledgeable and nice guy who taught us a lot about nature. Moreover, the camping safari gave us the chance to see some action at night too, like a couple of hyenas and jackals fighting for a carcase only five meters away from our tent.

The Cook, Reuben, was also great. He even cooked a spanish Tortilla for us, after we gave him the recipe!

My only advice to future travellers is to make sure they know exactly waht they are buying from the Operator. There were a few misunderstanding on our trip, fortunately they was friendly enough to solve it all very easily.

Comment: At every step of the Kilimanjaro climb the experienced guide and porters made us feel completely safe and comfortable in otherwise extreme conditions. On safari, the crew not only had quality equipment and kept us well fed but their expanse knowledge of the wildlife made all the difference in the world. I would recommend this company to anyone that wants to experience the wonders of Africa in a professional, informative, and adventurous way.
