This route ends with the eastern side of the mountain, it is undoubtedly the most beautiful of the access routes to the summit and easiest as far as gradients go. It requires good trekking experience.

Day 1: Nairobi - Nanyuki
Depart Nairobi in a shared public transport to the base of the mountain. Lunch in Nanyuki. Organise gear for the trek and begin the acclimatisation process as the town is at the foothills of Mt Kenya, at an attitude of 1,950m Dinner and overnight at a budget hotel.

Day 2: Nanyuki - Old Moses
After breakfast, drive to the Sirimon Park Gate, 2,660m above sea level. Begin your 3 hour hike to Old Moses hut in an average hiking time of 3 hours. Dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 3: Old Moses - Shiptons
After breakfast, hike to Shiptons in an average hiking time of 5 to 7 hours, which depends directly on one’s level of physical fitness. Lunch will be taken enroute. The altitude here is 4,200m above sea level; dinner and overnight at the hut.

Day 4: Shiptons - Pt Lenana -Mintos
You will wake up to a pre-down attempt of Point Lenana, altitude 4,985m. After your photography and viewing session descend to Minto’s Hut on the Chogoria trail for a full breakfast. We will pitch tents for overnight in the camps.

(bold)Day 5: Mintos - Mt. Kenya Meru bandas(/bold)
We shall leave for the Mt Kenya Meru Banda’s having a stopover at Road Head for Lunch. We shall latter join the main route & head to the Mt Kenya Meru Banda’s where we shall set our tents for the night. (At extra cost, you may upgrade your accommodation and spend the night at the Meru Mt Kenya Bandas, subject to availability)

Day 6: Meru Mt. Kenya - Nairobi
After breakfast, descent to Chogoria town, which is a 32km walk. (Halfway done, you may take transport for 16 km to the town at extra cost). Lunch in Chogoria then depart for Nairobi in a shared transport
